A New Album on the Horizon: Avaran Prepares His Most Personal Musical Journey Yet

Updated: Jul 12

Some albums are simply collections of songs.

Others become milestones that capture a lifetime of experiences, personal growth, and artistic evolution.

For Bahamian reggae artist Avaran, that defining moment has arrived.

After years of writing, recording, and performing whenever opportunities arose, Avaran is preparing to release what he considers his most complete and personal musical project to date. His musical journey has taken him from his home in the Bahamas to audiences across the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe, with every performance, recording session, and life experience helping shape the artist he is today.

More than a collection of songs, this upcoming album reflects a lifetime of experiences—its triumphs and struggles, friendships and family, faith and perseverance, love and hope. Every lyric, every melody, and every performance has been shaped by real-life experiences and an unwavering commitment to authentic reggae music.

Music with a Purpose

For Avaran, reggae has always been more than entertainment—it is a vehicle for storytelling, encouragement, and inspiration.

Every song is written with the hope that listeners will discover something personal within it. Whether offering encouragement during difficult moments, celebrating life's blessings, or reminding people of the importance of faith, forgiveness, and perseverance, Avaran believes reggae has the unique ability to unite people through honest storytelling and uplifting messages.

That philosophy is woven throughout every song on the album.

A New Chapter Begins

Years of songwriting, recording, and creative collaboration have culminated in a collection of nine original songs:

  • Who Shall Jah Send

  • Never Let Them

  • Sunshine After Rain

  • Dreams of Home

  • Friend for Life

  • Seven Seals

  • No Stranger to Love

  • Love Cry

  • Love (A Tribute to Garnet Silk)

Each song tells its own story while contributing to a larger musical journey that explores faith, perseverance, relationships, forgiveness, hope, and the enduring power of love.

Blending conscious roots reggae with lovers rock, the album remains firmly rooted in the traditions that have inspired Avaran throughout his musical journey.

Crafted by World-Class Musicians

Recorded at the legendary Anchor Recording Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, the album brings together an exceptional team of musicians whose work has helped define reggae music for generations.

Featured musicians include:

  • Dean Fraser – Saxophone & Horn Arrangements

  • Earl "Chinna" Smith – Guitar

  • Robbie Lyn – Keyboards

  • Errol "Flabba" Holt – Bass Guitar

  • Donald "Danny Bassie" Dennis – Bass Guitar

  • Kirk "Kirkledove" Bennett – Drums

Together, these internationally respected musicians bring decades of experience, musicianship, and authenticity to every recording, creating a sound that is unmistakably Jamaican while perfectly complementing Avaran's songwriting and vocal performances.

Selected songs also feature harmony vocals by Nikki Burt and Sherida Sharpe. Sherida Sharpe has contributed backing vocals for Beres Hammond and has collaborated with Lila Iké, Duane Stephenson, and Clinton Fearon. Nikki Burt's beautifully layered harmonies add warmth and richness to selected recordings, helping create the album's distinctive vocal sound.

Engineering duties were handled by Delroy "PHATTA" Pottinger, whose ability to capture the energy of live musicians has made him one of Jamaica's most respected recording engineers. Final mixing and mastering are being completed by internationally respected producer, engineer, and recording artist Ed Robinson, whose decades of experience help preserve the emotional character and authenticity of every performance.

Standing on the Shoulders of Legends

Recording in Kingston was never simply about location—it was about honoring reggae's birthplace.

Working alongside musicians whose performances have become part of reggae history gave every recording session a sense of purpose. Their experience, professionalism, and passion challenged Avaran to raise his own creative standards while remaining true to his vision.

The project also represents a bridge between the Bahamas and Jamaica—two Caribbean nations connected by culture, music, and a shared appreciation for reggae's enduring message of hope, unity, and resilience.

Authentic Reggae for a Global Audience

Built upon live musicianship rather than programmed instruments, the album captures the warmth, emotion, and spontaneity that have defined reggae for generations.

Rich bass lines, expressive keyboards, tasteful guitar work, soulful horn arrangements, harmony vocals, and heartfelt lead performances create a timeless sound while allowing the songs to speak honestly to today's listeners.

Although deeply rooted in Jamaica's musical traditions, the album speaks to audiences everywhere. Whether discovered in Nassau, Kingston, London, New York, Toronto, Paris, or beyond, its themes of faith, love, perseverance, friendship, and hope transcend borders and cultures.

Looking Ahead

The release of this album marks an exciting new chapter in Avaran's career.

Plans are already underway for radio interviews, international media features, streaming platform promotions, music blogs, podcasts, social media campaigns, and live performances. Promotion will begin in Jamaica—the birthplace of reggae—before expanding throughout the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and beyond.

Fans can also look forward to behind-the-scenes stories, exclusive studio content, and music videos as the album's release draws closer.

A Message from Avaran

To everyone who has supported me throughout this journey, thank you.

Music has taken me from my home in the Bahamas to audiences across the Caribbean, the United States, and Europe. Along the way I have been blessed to meet incredible people, work with extraordinary musicians, and continue growing as both an artist and a person.

This album is deeply personal. Every song represents a chapter of life—moments of joy, challenges overcome, friendships cherished, love experienced, faith strengthened, and hope renewed.

Recording in Kingston alongside some of Jamaica's finest musicians has been both an honor and a humbling experience. I extend my sincere thanks to every musician, vocalist, engineer, and producer who shared their talent and passion to help bring these songs to life.

Above all, I thank God for every opportunity, every lesson, and every person who has been part of this journey.

Whether you've followed my music for years or are discovering it for the first time, I hope these songs encourage you, inspire you, and remind you that reggae remains a powerful force for hope, love, and unity.

Thank you for believing in authentic reggae music.

I look forward to sharing this album with you very soon.

One Love,

Avaran
